Social Studies: Compare Then and Now
Students will fold a plain white sheet of paper, that I have given them in half. On the left side they will write 1800's. On the right side they will write Today.
Students will research the coal, timber, glass, or iron industries. They will compare in detail the differences between the way the industry is ran today to how it was ran in the early 1800's. They will research both time periods to gather the information that they need.
Once they have researched they will draw a picture that represents the industry in the 1800s, and a picture to represent the industry today on the correct side of their folded paper.
This was assigned and explained in class today. We did not get computer class time to work on it. It is due tomorrow, Friday the 16th.

Teaching A Space Lesson
The Assignment:
Students will research, and find a lesson to teach younger students about space. They must choose what we have learned about space in chapter 9 of our Science book. They may modify the lesson however they like, or follow the lesson as it is, as long as it covers the "musts". They may also, if they choose, make up their own lesson as long as it cover the "musts".
Due Monday March 5th.
The Musts:
Students must have knowledge of what they are teaching. It must be clear to the classroom teacher, who will fill out your rubric, that you understand what you are talking about.
Students must be able to answer questions from younger students or the classroom teacher.
Students must prepare an evaluation, some sort of test or worksheet to see what the younger students learned from the lesson.
Students must use a site from the Internet to assist them in teaching. Think of what I do with short videos and song etc...
Students must be organized. Student lessons must be in order, and they must be prepared prior to teaching.
Students must be able to be clear when teaching younger students. Younger students should know what the student teacher expects of them by the end of the lesson.
I know your list is a long one, but you can do it! Your lesson plan is due this Friday. Your assessment is due on Monday. You must be ready to teach by Monday, although it may take longer before a classroom teacher can fit you in. Have fun with this, and remember I let you decide and vote.
This site should bring up the rubric the classroom teacher will use to grade you.
